Halladay Pitches Shutout

After returning much earlier than expected, Roy Halladay out pitches White Sox ace Mark Buerle. Despite Mark's 2 hitter both Frank Thomas and Aaron Hill's hits were homers. Thomas hit his 495th career home run and Roy Halladay got his hundreth win.

Jays Dismantle arleady Dismantled Yankees

As the halfway point of the MLB season approaches, the Men in blue are are way out of first place in the A.L east and a good distance from the top of the wild card. Although the Jays have began to rebound since thier huge drought that sucked a good bit of thier playoff hopes right out of them. Still the Jays have not plummeted and will face the Yankees tonight after they took a 1-0 series lead on Sunday.

Burnett Wins 3rd Straight

I am glad to be writting about a victory instead of a loss. It is comforting to know that A.J has stepped up when we most needed him to. Burnett struck out 8 and lasted 6 plus innings in the jays 6-4 victory over the Orioles. As the storm clouds continue to hover above the Jays they still seem to seek shelter behind someone. In this case A.J is that shelter. Enjoy your wendsday!

A poem for the sad jays fan

The season began, filled with great hopes
A new year, a new season even a new pope
With Halladay looking good and Wells looking great
We all knew this would be the season for our beloved Jays
Our aspirations faded our dreams were dimned
The solid looking blue jays had more losses than wins
The Red Sox are rolling the Yankees just stink
And the poor little Blue Jays were lost in a blink
Once again we find ourselves saying
Maybe next year we can see the jays really playing
The flight was grounded
The trumpet is yet to be sounded
And we wait again
For the Jays to ascend

I'm tired of this!

I get on here every day and look forward to writing an article on the jays most recent game and enjoy doing it. What I get sick of is more than half the time I'm writing about a loss. I get extremely angry when I am writing about them losing to a pathetic team. Ever since I could talk I have been an avid pittsburgh steelers fan. As you may know the steelers don't lose to pathetic teams(until last season). The Raptors have never been good so I can deal with that. I feel like toronto owes it to it's loyal fans to do what it taks to win. Anyway, the Jays lost to the Phillies again with a score of 5-3. Listch got the loss. Enough said. I used a picture of a winner!

Phillies will try to Clinch Series with Jays

After beating the Jays 5-3 on friday the Phillies will gear up again to try take the series. If the Jays can come away with a win tonight it would put them in 2nd in the A.L. East. The main for the A.L. East teams not including the Red Sox is that the wild card will not go to a team just over 500. We need a win.

1992 Jays

This article was written by a fellow blogging friend of mine. Ted Bauer usually wrights over on his blog www.priceabovebiproberts.blogspot.com . Ted will be writing guest articles for us throughout the summer and has contributed significantly to the evolution of my site. Enjoy!

I had an interesting crisis right around the conclusion of the 1992 World Series, something that only a 12 year old could understand at the time but anyone north of that age could appreciate forever.

See, Game 6 of the '92 Series took place on October 24 of that year; the scheduled Game 7 would have been played the next night. That next night was also Halloween Havoc 1992; for those of you not in the know, that event ended up featuring Sting vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts in the first-ever "Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal" Match (the stipulation was Coal Miner's Glove). Ron Simmons faced, and summarily defeated, the Barbarian for the WCW World Heavyweight Title.

Halloween Havoc 1992 was to be my first wrestling PPV purchase - I had been a wrestling fan longer than I had been a baseball fan, following the in-tights, fake-punching antics of my WCW and WWF brethren since the late 1980s, as opposed to only being a youngster who understood what a double was circa 1991 - because it took a long time for me to convince my mother it was a good idea to spend 35 bucks on this drivel. First, I had to figure out where she and my father could go during the wrestling PPV, because Lord knows they weren't going to watch it; next, I had to figure out a way to "pay them back" considering I was in fifth grade at the time and had no reliable source of income. Both problems were eventually surmounted.

So on October 24, 1992, I sat in a relatively awkward place. As a new baseball fan - I started liking the sport during that Twins vs. Braves Series the year before, which I'm pretty sure Peter Gammons still has ranked as one of the best World Series of all time - I wanted to see this thing go to 7 games. Here were the Braves, new on the championship scene still, and they had come oh so close the year before; yet, on the flip side, you had a Canadian (!!!) team in the championship series, and the first African American manager ever on the verge of winning it all, and that was pretty cool too. It had been a good series, and here we were, with Game 6, and I had a 12 year old crisis.

If the Braves won and forced Game 7, there was no chance I would still be able to watch Halloween Havoc. Ron Simmons! Sting! But... at the same time... I really wanted this series to contnue. What was a little boy to root for?

There I was, with my dad - to be honest, I had probably started to gain an interest in baseball circa 1986, when he hopelessly narrated to my six year old, nap-obsessed self highlights of the Mets vs. Red Sox World Series - watching a relatively dramatic Game 6 unfold. For those of you who don't remember, Candy Maldonado homered in the 4th to put the Jays up 2-1 (Oh Canada!). In the bottom of the 9th, that score stood, and it seemed the Great White North would raise the golden trophy for once - then, Otis Nixon doubled off Tom Henke, scoring Jeff Blauser to tie the game.

In the top of the 11th, Dave Winfield would lace a two-out, two-run double (his first extra base hit of that Series) down the line for a 4-2 Jays advantage they would ultimately keep. Interestingly, the final out came on a bunt by Nixon - the hero in the 9th - scooped up by Mike Timlin and fired to Joe Carter at first; the latter would obviously became a far more significant member of Blue Jays' postseason lore the following season.

I remember sitting in my living room with my dad, and realizing that I was up pretty late even though it was a Saturday, and thinking how absolutely cool that was, and how sports had this magical power to allow my father to convince my mother that it was good for me to be sitting here, witnessing this. I remember my dad telling me that was "a pretty good World Series, nothin' like '86 or '55 or even '60," and I nodded, as if I understood, or had grown up in Brooklyn like he had. I remember checking my mini-encyclopedia - which my parents bought me in 4th grade, when I started a new school - for more information on Canada, and Toronto specifically. I remember thinking, 15 years ago this fall, "That was pretty cool, overall." Then again, I can't be sure whether that was Cito and the Jays, or the fact that wrapping it up in six meant I got my shot at ordering Halloween Havoc, but I know this: now, whenever I see the Jays on TV (and living in NESN territory, that happens a lot), I think of two things - Ron Simmons powerslamming the Barbarian to retain his title, and that magical late Saturday with my dad, when Cito Gaston and Joe Carter and Jack Morris meant way more to a little fat kid from New York than they'd ever know.

Burnett Buries Orioles

When the Jays need Burnett to give them all he has he has. So far the injuries have only helped. I don't know how, but it helped the Jays. Burnett struck out 10 and went the entire game as the Jays beat the O's 2-1. So far I like what I see. A feeling of urgency. It can be very good.

I am sorry Mr Listch

I was WRONG! Totally WRONG. I am man enough to admit I was wrong. I love Mr. Litsch after he allowed 1 run on only 4 hits in his major league debut. Could Listch be the answer? I dont know but he threw a heck of a game! Accardo got another save and has looked strong his past 4 showings. My deepest regrets Mr Listch. Thank you for everything!

Listch To Start

What the Heck are they doing? We're just coming off a 9 game slump and have started to heat up and who's pitching? He was called up from double A New Hampshire! Yea, he did have a 6-1 record with a 0.96 era with the double A club. But why not someone from triple A? I am no minor league expert but Double A? Well I guess I'll judge the Jays decision making after tonight. By the way, What's up with the Spurs these days? I thought they were a respectable franshise? More questions than answers in sports these days anyways.

Glaus Leads Jays past O's

Troy Glaus hit a go ahead homer in the 8th to give the the Jays a 5-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Glaus who has been the center of Jays trade rumors jacked up a 2 run homer that gave Toronto the win. Accardo finished with another strong save performance. Before Gibbons trades for pitching he might want to consider keeping Glaus. Glaus is always a solid veteran hitting threat and a 3 base gold glove winner.

The Jays are a Million Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

Whenever we think they've got it together something falls apart. Whenever we think the pitching is improving they give up 11 runs in 5 innings. And wenever they start strong they end weak. What will it take to solve this jays puzzle. Some say fire Gibbons others say trade hitters for pitching. I think the answer is somwhere in the middle. First of all Gibbons has done valuable things for the team since becoming manager in 04. He has brought this team a long way from where it has been since the 93 season. John has brought in top minor league propects, got Troy Glaus and A.J Burnett and got the jays back into playoff contention. Gibbons has renergized the team despite some rough periods. Now for trading for pitching. Glaus has been injured quite a bit and has exeptional trade value. He would definitly be worth a #3 or 4 pitcher. Greg Zahn Is another possible trade prospect. The Jays need a feilding catcher like Sal Fasano not a more of a hitting catcher like Zahn. Other Clubs like St louis or Tampa Bay might be intrested in a good hitting catcher with solid fielding. Still the Jays road to the playoffs will never be easy. They are in the best division in baseball with 2 of the most storied teams in baseball. Remember there is only 1 A.L. Wild Card spot and the Jays can't afford to bring in superstar caliber players. I would hope that Gibbons would trade some hitting(not alot) for some pitchers including relief guys and I also believe Gibbons should leave his starters out longer since the relief pitching is so bad. If he does these things the Jays should be a-Ok. Leave your input.

Jays Lose Despite Marcum's Gem

The Rays won. The Jays Lost. Marcum did good. Enough said. Agreed? Share you thoughts on how you think the rest of the season will go.
We feel the same way.

Jays Make it 2 Straight

After ending their 9 game losing streak, the Jays have won 2 straight. They defeated the Devil Rays 5-4 on saturday and handed Tampa it's 6th straight loss . Dustin Mcgowan allowed 4 runs on 7 hits and struck out 6 in his no decision. Scott Downs got the win and Jeremy Accardo shut down the Rays in the ninth to earn his second straight save. Accardo is seemingly the top canidate for the Jays closing job. The Men in Blue will go for the sweep on sunday. Go Jays!

Vernon Wells is clearly...

Vernon Wells is clearly the most underated player in baseball. He is always a constant hitting and fielding threat and is a solid baserunner. Wells is a 3 time gold glove winner and has been named to the allstar team multiple times. He has maintained an average in the high 200's to the low 3's. Clutch could be used to describe him and consistent should be his middle name. Any club would be lucky to have him. Underated I think so!

Rain!

The 9 game drought is over! A.J. Burnett won his 3rd game striking out 10 as the Toronto Blue Jays buckled down and defeated the Rays 5-1. The Rays started early with a 1st inning home run but Scott Kamir surrendered 4 runs including an Alex Rios homer. This victory should renergize the Jays who came into this game with a 9 game losing streak. Do you think that the Jays will move up the standings now? Leave your input.

Hill continues to shine

Aaron Hill continues to hit sucessfully. Although the other Jays' bats haven't been as hot, Hill gets on base frequently. Aaron entered the league as a top minor league prospect and has flourished with the Jays, hitting 293 last year with 159 hits and 6 HR. As the Jays young guns continue to improve so does their chances of making the playoffs. There is great hope for the future.

Jays place Halladay on DL

After losing his second straight start against Boston, Roy Halladay was placed on the Disabled list by the Jays. Halladay is said to have acute appendicitis and will miss from 15 to 30 days. This has been just another issue that the Jays have been faced with in recent weeks. Hopefully the other Jays starters will step up and stop pitching like minor leaguers.

What Else Can Go Wrong?

The Jays just recently announced Roy Halladay won't be back for about a month, B.J. Ryan just had Tommy John surgery and they've just lost 9 straight. Everyone is injured, the pitching staff stinks and who knows if Troy Glaus will continue to be healthy. The Jays need to look for other possible veteran players. They don't have to be great just solid. Pray for the Jays.
